A few facts about "cloisonné" and "champlevé" enamel
Towards the end of the 1940’s, the Swiss watchmaking industry resumed the medieval technique of “cloisonné” enamel and produced, during about 15 years, some of its most beautiful watch dials. This technique consists of delimiting the outlines of the chosen subject with fine bands (filaments) of gold or copper, placed and soldered to the surface of the gold or copper plate destined to become the future dial.
